Kay's book: Ten Myths about Doctors: What you can do to Dispel Them
Introduction
This site is dedicated to helping Interstitial Cystitis patients, or those suspecting they may have IC, or those having chronic bladder problems such as pelvic pain, urinary frequency, burning and urgency or pressure. Throughout you will find articles by Kay Benton, IC patient and founder of the site, and by Dr. Paul Fugazzotto who pioneered the broth culturing of urine which usually uncovers difficult to grow bacteria. Dr. Fugazzotto usually finds this bacteria and some articles on this site describe his philosophy of diagnosing and treating these bacterial infections.
In addition there are articles by Ruth Kriz who healed her IC with antibiotics and used appropriate supplements to help her immune system and damaged bladder tissues. B J Czarapata, CRNP, CURN, explains her unique approach to treating IC, and Kay Benton has several articles about how to be successful using long term antibiotic therapy and how to treat yeast problems which often accompany this treatment regimen.

In an effort to provide a comprehensive explanation for the approach to diagnosis and treatment of interstitial cystitis advocated by Dr. Fugazzotto an article has been added to this site consolidating a lot of the available information. News about Dr. Fugazzotto:
Dr. Fugazzotto has retired and is no longer able to culture for patients. He is no longer available to consult by telephone. He recommends that you read the "Diagnosis and Monitoring" page to find other locations that provide similar testing I.A.W. his methodology.
