The VIRGINIA HIKING
STICK COMPANY

Frequenly, Trail Club members order a special hiking stick
that will be used to record the major events of a hike on their special trail.
The stick becomes a lasting memento, allowing the hiker to relive
the experience as the years go by.

The stick at left, easy to recognize from big mouth Fred, was ordered by
a member of the Tidewater Appalachian Club, located in Norfolk, Virginia.
The stick and owner hiked the length of the Appalachian Trail from
Maine to Georgia. Please note the club's green & yellow logo.

The stick at right was made and donated in support of the the Ice Age Trail Foundation and was auctioned off during their April 2001 Fund Raiser event.

Very often the stick becomes an excellent record keeper of
the individuals travels and hiking accomplishments.
National and State parks often have a metal medallion, especially stamped and sized, to be placed on hiking or walking sticks.

In place of the metal badge, the park or club emblem can be enlarged and custom carved into the stick as the main feature
on the stick like the Ice Age Trail logo at right.

They make excellent gifts for presentation at
the member's accomplishment ceremony after a very special
hiking event.

Please view the stick made for Brian Robinson upon his completion of the
hiking world's TRIPLE CROWN

Brian's Triple Crown Stick

The stick normally contains the members Club Patch, Club Motto,
Name, dates of hike, special events during the hike, and the names
of all supporting personnel when used on long hikes at re-supply points.
