A life history or family history stick, like the history cane shown, makes an excellent gift for an elderly Mother, Father, or Grandparents. The stick normally starts out with the person's birthday near the bottom with other selected events from the person's life placed on the stick in ascending order.
The cane pictured has a family tree on the handle

and started with the persons birthday and then
followed with his High School, first love, college
grad date, marriage date, birthdays of children,
military service dates, first job, awards,
promotions,
and names of grandchildren.
The life history stick at right contains most of the major events in the
individual's life including his Mason membership and his college years at Virginia Tech.
This style of stick does not have to be considered only
for the older person. A stick listing any
persons major and personal events during a
period of their life makes an extremely
thoughtful gift.
The stick at left is a combination Life History
and Family Tree. Not shown is a blue Family Crest at the top of the stick. Just under the
crest is the Father's name and birth date. The photo starts just under the handle with a Bible verse from the book of Isaiah.
Next is a heart with the names and wedding date of this man's parents.
His early schooling years follow next with the red schoolhouse.
Next is a heart with this man's marriage date
and the name of his Wife. The family tree is
just under
the heart with the names and birthdates of his children and grandchildren.
From the apple on down are the various schools where
this man served in an educational
capacity and the stick
also lists the type and dates of his college degrees.
Some logos from his places of employment are used to embellish the stick's overall appearance.
These sticks normally are never seen on the hiking trail but reside in a place of honor such as hanging in a special room at home, on the office wall at work, or over a fireplace.
They bring Joy and Love for a Lifetime and the giver of the stick is remembered forever.
A stick of this type could record military
service, or even an eventful vacation trip.
