The VIRGINIA HIKING
STICK COMPANY

A marine retirement stick like one of
the two pictured below showing the
date of service entry (Bootcamp)and the final date of retirement, the date of each rate/rank advancement,
and a complete listing of each duty station the Marine served
at during his or her career, makes an excellent Retirement gift
to remember and relive those special
"Semper Fi" years.

Marine retirement sticks can be completed for enlisted or
officer members of the Corps and these sticks make an
excellent gift at the individual's formal retirement cremony.

Marine retirement sticks can be
embellished with metal rating badges
or pins, military metals earned, collar
devices, tie tacks, cap devices, special
qualification badges, and other military
items desired.

The stick made for CWO3 Celil P.
Montoya's retirement, pictured at
left, shows an arrangement where
the dates of each advancement were incorporated
into the chronological list of duty stations
she served at during her Marine Corps career.

The stick for Major Daniel E. Harrington's
retirement, pictured at left and at right also,
shows an arrangement where the dates of
each advancement were incorporated into
the chronological list of duty stations he
served at during his Marine Corps career as
well as some personal accomplishments
completed at certain duty stations.

His stick also had some unique carvings of ships and helicopters.

A retirement stick from a civilian company is
equally appropriate with the dates of employment,
advancement milestones, and with the company's
logo carved into the stick.
