Area Amenities: Clarksville is a picturesque little town on the water with a variety of restaurants and antique shops, a historic walking tour, and a veteran's museum. The town includes a dock for visiting boats so that folks can shop or dine. It is about 5-6 miles away by road or by boat. There are several Army Corps of Engineer Recreation Areas which include a swimming/beach area and picnic grounds. The area also includes numerous boat ramps, Clarksville Marina with boat rentals, seasonal hunting, horseback riding including lessons or trail rides (434-374-5242), an excellent golf course, tours of historic Prestwould Plantation, and Occoneechee State Park Visitor's Center with historic and Indian artifacts and boat rentals.
