Louis J. Risacher, 89 of Farmville died Friday, February 17, 2006.

     He was born January 15, 1917 in Haskell, NJ.  Mr. Risacher is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine DeBlock Risacher; one son, Robert L. Risacher and his wife Billie F. Risacher of Farmville; three grandchildren, Tracy Bristow, Kathy Esser and Daniel Risacher, their spouses and eight great-grandchildren.

      During World War II Mr. Risacher served in the Marine Corps.  He had a career in law enforcement and was a graduate cum laude of William Paterson College (NJ) and the FBI National Academy.  He served as a police officer in Fair Lawn, NJ for 41 years until his retirement as Chief of Police in 1979.

     Chief Risacher contributed to the public service as Deputy Director of The Police Academy of Bergen County (NJ), was President of the Bergen County Police ChiefÕs Assoc., was a member of the NJ Civil Service Commission, and founded or served a variety of other civic organizations.  He was a member of advisory boards to Bergen County Community College, Rutgers University and William Paterson College for Police Science and Criminal Justice. 

     A memorial service was held at 3 PM Tuesday, Feb 21 at the Chapel of Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, 106 Venable St. Farmville, VA 23901.  A gravesite service was followed by a reception for famiily and friends.
