How Our Store Got Happy !

Mural art by Happy the Artist - www.happytheartist.com

Rug Rats' retail showroom in historic downtown Farmville, Virginia got Happy for a week; Happy the Artist that is, as the unconventional mural painter set his sights on the converted 1930's Texaco gas station. The funky former service station at 318 N. Main Street - now the home of Rug Rats - was transformed on the outside, under Happy's brushes, into a Dr. Seuss-like cottage complete with a madcap workroom of mice cutting, creating and delivering carpets.

This is the first time Happy the Artist has painted a mural in Farmville. The exciting challenge for Happy was that he had the entire exterior of the building for his canvas. "Folks here still remember when this building was Otis Shepard's Texaco station for 34 years," muses Sandy Henderson, owner of Rug Rats and Happy's art patron. "Otis would approve. It's the talk of the town."

Here's what folks are saying:

"I drove by your place and decided that I had to comment. I just love the facade on your business. It was so cute that I had to take a picture for our scrap book. Thanks for making our trip a little brighter."

"Sandy, what a cool store. MY KIDS ARE LOVING RIDING PAST TRYING TO SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS THEY CAN FIND."

Sandy, the new artwork is what you are all about. It is an excellent marketing tool!
